Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Inc. will host a Be Vocal: Speak Up for Mental Health discussion with Lloyd Hale, cast member of the Be Vocal documentary, Beyond Silence.

The conversation will focus on the power of sharing mental health stories honestly and through various mediums, including through creative outlets like film. It will also explore how mental health is represented in the media, pop culture and in society, and the power of honest, real and raw storytelling in the modern media era. Lloyd can help draw the connection between sharing mental health stories and inspiring others to speak up and get support – and even share their own personal narratives.

Lloyd will also discuss his experience on the Beyond Silence set: why he chose to share his story in this documentary, working with professional storytellers to ensure his story was represented accurately, and the impact it has had on his life since.

The conversation will strive to highlight the role the media and people with a platform play in shaping public perception of mental health, encourage audience attendees to speak up for mental health – and guide the audience on how to do so more accurately and sensitively.
